Oracle buys Innobase

Scary news, Oracle announces the acquisition of Innobase.  Innobase is the company that provides the underlying code for the InnoDB storage engine in MySQL.

Luckily
none of our applications use InnoDB, but we were thinking of migrating
from MyISAM to InnoDB soon! hmmm… I think that will have to wait for
the moment until we see what Oracle decides to do with it. Hopefully
MySQL will probably start building a replacement engine so they don’t
have to depend on Oracle.
