I just found out through a friend that Microsoft has launched Live
Expo in the US. This provides an interesting twist to the online
Some of the new features included are:
– Browsing items from your friends. (Only one connection away apparently).
– Virtual Earth integration. (Geocoded ads).
– Creating groups of trusted buyers and sellers (schools or companies).
– Instant messaging with other Expo members to work out deals.
geography is definitively an improvement from Craigslist now that the
ads are geocoded. It provides new flexible navigation options.
main problem I see with Live Expo is the fact that they force everyone
to register, both sellers and buyers. Compulsory login might be too
aggressive, at least at this stage when the site is empty!
They also need to do some work on the categories. Pets has more space in the homepage than Housing!
